What is Sunny Trail? 

Sunny Trail is a community-wide adventure that encourages people to explore The Dalles, discover local stories, visit local businesses, and experience the community in a new way. 

Participants can complete activities, visit locations, answer trivia, and explore using both a passport and the DriftScape app. 

 

When does Sunny Trail take place? 

Sunny Trail runs from: 

August 17 – September 18 

 

How do I participate? 

  1. Pick up a Sunny Trail passport. 
  2. Visit participating locations and complete activities. 
  3. Collect the required stamps or completions. 
  4. Turn in your completed passport. 
  5. Be entered into a prize drawing. 

You can also participate through the DriftScape app. 

 

Is there a cost to participate? 

No. 

Participation is free. 

 

Where can I get a passport? 

Passports are available at participating Sunny Trail businesses and designated pickup locations.

 

Do I need to complete everything? 

No. 

You only need to complete the required number of activities listed in the passport. 

Additional activities and app missions are optional. 

 

Can I use the app without a passport? 

Yes. 

Participants can use: 

  • The passport only 
  • The app only 
  • Both together 

 

What is DriftScape? 

DriftScape is the app used for Sunny Trail. 

The app includes: 

  • Local stories 
  • Trivia 
  • Missions 
  • Historical information 
  • Exploration activities 

 

Do app participants qualify for prizes? 

Yes. 

App participants and passport participants are eligible for separate prize drawings. 

 

What prizes can I win? 

Sunny Trail features prize baskets filled with items donated by local businesses throughout The Dalles. 

Prize details will be shared throughout the program.

 

Where do I turn in my completed passport? 

Completed passports may be turned in at participating locations.

 

Can I turn in an incomplete passport? 

No. 

Only completed passports are eligible for prize drawings. 

 

When is the deadline to turn in my passport? 

Completed passports must be submitted by: 

September 18 

 

When will winners be selected? 

Prize winners will be drawn on: 

September 28 

Winners will be contacted directly. 

 

How will I know if I win? 

The Chamber will: 

  1. Call the winner. 
  2. Leave a voicemail if needed. 
  3. Follow up by email or text. 

 

How long do winners have to respond? 

Winners have: 

5 business days to respond

If no response is received, an alternate winner may be selected. 

 

Where do winners pick up prizes? 

Prize baskets will be picked up at:

Can someone else pick up my prize? 

Contact the Chamber to make arrangements if you are unable to pick up the prize yourself.

Terms & Conditions

Sunny Trail is a community-wide experience designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore The Dalles, support local businesses, discover local stories, and engage with community attractions and activities.

Participants may participate through the Sunny Trail Passport, the DriftScape experience, or both.


Program Dates

Sunny Trail runs from:

August 17, 2026 – September 18, 2026

Activities, passport submissions, and qualifying DriftScape participation must be completed during the program period.


Eligibility

Participation is free and open to all ages.

Participants under the age of 18 should have permission from a parent or legal guardian to participate.

The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to determine participant eligibility and verify entry requirements.


Fair Play and Program Integrity

Sunny Trail is intended to encourage authentic exploration and participation within The Dalles community.

Participants must personally complete activities, missions, trivia, check-ins, and purchases associated with the program.

The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce and Explore The Dalles reserve the right to disqualify any participant who:

  • Submits false or misleading information.
  • Uploads photos that do not represent their own participation.
  • Uses artificially generated, manipulated, or misleading content to complete missions or activities.
  • Falsifies check-ins, purchases, stamps, or participation records.
  • Attempts to gain an unfair advantage through fraudulent, deceptive, or unauthorized means.
  • Interferes with the intended operation of the program.

Any entries determined to violate program rules may be disqualified at the sole discretion of The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce.


Passport Participation

Participants earn one passport stamp for every $10 spent at participating Sunny Trail businesses.

A passport is considered complete when all designated stamp spaces within the passport have been filled.

To be eligible for the Passport Prize Drawing, participants must:

  • Complete all passport stamp spaces.
  • Provide complete contact information.
  • Submit their completed passport by the submission deadline.

Only completed passports are eligible for the Passport Prize Drawing.

Multiple Entries

  • Participants may complete and submit more than one passport during the program.
  • Each completed passport submitted by the deadline will receive one entry into the Passport Prize Drawing.
  • Only completed passports are eligible for prize drawings.


DriftScape Participation

Participants may earn points by completing missions, activities, trivia, check-ins, and other designated experiences within DriftScape.

Points are automatically tracked through the DriftScape platform.

To be eligible for the DriftScape Prize Drawing, participants must:

  • Participate in the Sunny Trail DriftScape experience.
  • Complete activities prior to the program closing date.
  • Meet any minimum participation requirements established within the experience.

All point totals and participation records are subject to verification.


Passport Submission Deadline

Completed passports must be submitted no later than:

September 18, 2026

Late submissions may not be eligible for prize drawings.


Prize Drawings

Two prize baskets will be awarded:

Passport Prize Basket

Awarded to an eligible participant who submits a completed Sunny Trail passport.

DriftScape Prize Basket

Awarded to an eligible participant in the DriftScape experience.

Prize baskets may contain donated goods, services, gift cards, merchandise, experiences, and promotional items contributed by local businesses and organizations.

Prizes have no cash value and may not be exchanged for cash.


Winner Selection

Winners will be selected through a random drawing conducted by The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce.

Drawing Date: September 28, 2026

One winner will be selected for each prize category.

Alternate winners may also be selected.


Winner Notification

Selected winners will be contacted using the information provided on their passport or participant registration.

The Chamber will attempt contact through:

  1. Phone
  2. Email
  3. Text message (if available)

Winners will have five (5) business days to respond.

If a winner does not respond within the allotted timeframe, an alternate winner may be selected.

Once confirmed, winners have two (2) weeks to claim their prize unless alternate arrangements have been approved.


Photo Submission and Use

Participants may upload photos as part of DriftScape missions, activities, and experiences.

By submitting photos through the Sunny Trail experience, participants grant permission for submitted images to be used by:

  • Explore The Dalles
  • The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce

for purposes including:

  • Program promotion
  • Social media
  • Tourism marketing
  • Community storytelling
  • Website content
  • Future Sunny Trail promotions
  • Future community and tourism initiatives

Explore The Dalles and The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce will not use submitted photos that prominently feature minors for marketing or promotional purposes without permission from a parent or legal guardian.

Explore The Dalles and The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce reserve the right to determine which submitted images may be used.


Participant Responsibility

Participants are responsible for:

  • Following all program rules and instructions.
  • Respecting public and private property.
  • Following all applicable laws and safety regulations.
  • Participating at their own risk.

The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce and Explore The Dalles are not responsible for injury, loss, theft, damage, or claims arising from participation in the program.


Program Modifications

The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the program if circumstances arise beyond reasonable control.

Any updates will be communicated through official Sunny Trail communication channels.
