WARNING FROM WASCO COUNTY SHERIFF:  We are aware that there have been some scams around GoFundMe campaigns from people claiming to have lost their homes in the Rowena Fire. Please take extra precaution if you donate to these fundraisers. It is unfortunate that people take advantage of a disaster for their gain when people in our community are suffering.

Tips for spotting a scam:

  • Verify the Organizer's Identity
  • Check for Responsiveness
  • Assess the Story's Accuracy

GoFundMe has reached out and informed us that have a dedicated crisis response team that is currently monitoring the platform and their Trust & Safety team is reviewing fundraisers.

Wasco County has assembled a Multi-Agency Resource Center (MARC) for residents that have been impacted by the Rowena Fire. A MARC is a centralized location where various agencies and organizations have come together to provide disaster-related assistance and resources to individuals and families affected by a disaster.
