Membership Directory
Each December The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce Membership Directory and Community Profile is published. To request a current copy email Lois at tdacc@gorge.net.
With your membership you receive an alphabetical listing, and a listing by classification. (Additional classification listings are available for a fee). The deadline to be included in the Directory is usually early September.
Advertising space is also available in the Directory! A variety of ad sizes will be available. Current Chamber members will be contacted about these advertising opportunities. This space is available to members only! The deadline to get your ad included is usually early October. The directory is distributed to all members each January. It is also mailed to answer relocation questions, and it is available at the Chamber office to those requesting the names and numbers of businesses in our area.The directory is the first place many Chamber members look when they are in need of a product, service, etc., and it is often the only place the Chamber staff looks when giving out information!
The directory is a great opportunity to advertise your business!
Internet
As a member of The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce, your business name and phone number is listed on our web page. Members may also request that their own web page be linked to the Chamber's.
Newsletter
Our newsletter, MemberFocus, is mailed out monthly to members, and selected others. Currently Member Focus is sent to approximately 550 addresses, twelve times per year. Members are invited to submit news about their business. We will include items sent to us, space permitting, if received by the 15th of the month prior to the month of issue. As a new member you may submit a "New Member Profile", to introduce yourself to fellow members.
Limited advertising space is also available to members. Please let us know if you are interested in this opportunity. Advertising sales for the newsletter are handled through the printer.

Newsletter Insert
Members can drop 600 copies of their 8 1/2 X 11 flyer by the Chamber office by the 15th of the month, and we'll insert it in the next month's issue! A great way to get your message out to over 550 people, for only $50.00. ($60.00 for two page -11X17 folded). As a new member you receive one complimentary one-page insert! You will also have the opportunity to receive a coupon for 1/2 off the cost of an insert, when you renew each year. This certificate can be used any time during that year! We will also draw a name each month from the list of renewals for that month - the winner will receive a coupon for a FREE insert good for the following months newsletter!
Mailing Labels/Disk
If direct mail advertising is in your future we've got you covered! For $50.00 members may purchase a set of mailing labels or a disk of our membership names/addresses. A total of aproximately 550 names.
Brochure
As a Chamber member, we will display your brochure in the Chamber office for distribution to the public. Please stop by and replenish your supply periodically if you would like your brochure to remain available.
Trade Shows
When opportunities to represent The Dalles arise, the Chamber staff may attend travel/trade shows to encourage tourism and advertise that The Dalles as a great place to visit!
Vacation Planner
The Chamber produces a guide listing lodging & other tourist information in The Dalles. Copies of this guide are distributed to Visitor Centers, and local motels, as well as being sent in response to direct inquiries.
Business After Hours
These popular networking events are held the 3rd Thursday of each month from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Between 40 and 100 members attend each month with a $1.00 donation to the Chamber Ambassadors at the door. Business After Hours is exclusively for Chamber members and their guests. Business After Hours provides a fun and friendly atmosphere for members to network with one another. As a Chamber member you may host a Business After Hours in your business. Dates are often booked more than a year in advance! If you are interested, please call the Chamber now to schedule!
Governmental Affairs Breakfasts
This group of 15-20 members meets each Thursday at 7:00 a.m. at The Barbecue Restaurant. At these meetings members get legislative updates (by teleconference) from our State representatives and State Senator. Breakfast is available on a no-host basis.
Economic Development Committee
Approximately 25 members meet at 7 a.m. on the 2nd Friday of each month at the P.U.D. to discuss local problems, projects, and opportunities. You must petition to become a member of this group.
Ambassadors
The Ambassadors are the official greeters for The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce. Currently there are approximately 20 members, meeting every third Thursday at 8:00 a.m. for discussion and then go out to meet the owners, managers and employees of new businesses in The Dalles. Ambassadors also assist the host of Business After Hours each month by greeting attendees. In addition the Ambassadors may assist in ribbon cutting ceremonies and other special programs within the community. Let us know if you would like to join the Ambassadors, or if you would like to receive a visit from them.
Marketing Committee
The Marketing & Tourism Committee works to build a sustainable local economy by growing our existing member businesses and attracting new high-wage, environmentally-responsible businesses that diversify and build our economic vitality. It endeavors to differentiate The Dalles as a sunny visitor destination by focusing on our outdoor playground and unique regional cultural/historical assets. The committee meets on the second Monday of each month. If you are interested in being on this committee please contact the chamber office.
Year End Event
Each year the Chamber holds an annual awards program combining year-end reporting and the installation of new officers with a fun Year-End Party! Another chance to mingle with fellow Chamber members and enjoy an evening out! Invitations are mailed to all Chamber members prior to the event announcing the specifics.
Health ClubChamber members receive a discount at The Dalles Fitness & Court Club located at 731 Pomona West. If you've been thinking of joining this club, be sure to ask about the Chamber Member discount.Planning RoomThe Chamber maintains a meeting / planning room that may be used by members at no cost! Be sure to call ahead to check availability and reserve the date you are requesting.Meeting RoomThe Chamber meeting room may be used free by our members (as available).Bulk MailingAs a Chamber member you may use our bulk mailing permit. You must comply with all postal regulations and have a minimum of 200 pieces. The Chamber will provide you with the necessary form and bulk mail rubber-stamp.ResourcesMuch general information is available through the Chamber, such as lists of local, state and national government contacts, area phone books and maps, statewide visitor information, lists of clubs and organizations and community demographics.Special Fax InformationAt your request we will fax copies of "Merchant Alert" notices and governmental up-dates. These notices warn of possible fraud attempts, such as stolen or forged checks, and counterfeit bills, that may be circulating in our area. Please let us know if you would like to be added to the list of members that receive these notices.

We are the voice for business advocacy in our community.Tax DeductibilityYour investment in the Chamber is 100% deductible as a "necessary business expense", not a charitable contribution.ReferralsEach year the Chamber receives numerous inquiries for business referrals. Chamber members are referred to these potential customers. Members may include their information, coupon, or brochure, in the relocation packet that is sent to potential new residents.Business SeminarsAs a need is identified, seminars may be provided, co-sponsored by the college and the employment office.LeadershipWith Leadership Mid-Columbia The Dalles Area Chamber of Commerce attempts to keep future leaders of our community informed and aware of the different areas of the city by providing an eight month program each year that exposes the participant to the realities, opportunities, and problems of our area. Individuals may be nominated by any community group, agency, or business, or one may self-nominate. The cost to Chamber members is $395.00 ($495.00 for non-members). Fee includes the cost of meals, transportation, materials, meeting rooms, and speaker honorarium. Class size is limited for optimum implementation, so don't delay! Call the Chamber to enroll in the next program. Orientation is the third Tuesday in September. CalendarA copy of our Community Calendar of Events is available at the front counter at the Chamber. These may assist you in selecting a date for your event. Want your community event listed? Simply provide us with names, dates, locations, and a contact name/ phone number (in writing).
